Our Mission

The International Art Museum of America (IAMA), established in 2010, is located in downtown San Francisco between the Powell Street cable car terminal and the Civic Plaza. This Central Market area has been famed as the home of arts, theaters, and literary giants. Situated in the heart of the city’s historic art heritage, IAMA has been quietly carrying out its mission of making art appreciation and education accessible to all. With Peace (White), Compassion (Red) and Harmony (Blue) represented in IAMA’s logo, IAMA is devoted to advancing and elevating everyone through art.

Our Collections

Praised as a “Hidden Jewel” of San Francisco by the late Mayor Ed Lee, IAMA’s permanent art galleries and special exhibition halls cover over 25,000 sq. ft. The permanent collections include several hundred precious art pieces by world-renowned artists from 12 countries across Europe, America, and Asia, spanning from the 16th century to the present day. All artworks collected for the permanent display are by artists whose works appear in renowned museums and meet the Board’s rigorous selection criteria. In the gallery of Professor Yuhua Shouzhi Wang, the lifetime Chairperson of IAMA, who had an unprecedented Solo Exhibition “Un fiore, due mondi” in the Palace Museum of the Louvre, Paris, in 2019, visitors are able to gain a comprehensive view of her highly praised artwork and the two worlds within her art.
