Title: Letters From Home

My art explores the incessant, constant entangling of memories, objects, and people that allow us to grab hold of the ephemeral; the natural search for familiarity, the cycle of intimate connection, These works are deeply tied to my personal experiences, my growing pains, my family, my fears. At the same time this is a confrontation—a conversation between pieces through a stark contrast of a technicolor and monotone palette. Inevitably, my heritage is also embedded in the foundation of these pieces. My works allude to Chinese traditions and symbols—but my goal is to reconfigure rigid, sentimental, spiritual values that have shaped me throughout my life into a relevant and nuanced self portrait. Throughout my works, I follow an intuitive, bold-stroked, handmade approach, allowing me to explore my theme; an observational view of the transient idea of home. My hope is for viewers to explore each room of my soul, find the floors, the walls, every door knob and hallway in this narrative, and for a moment too, revisit home.
