關於展覽
The International Art Museum of America is pleased to present Beauty and Hallucination, a solo exhibition of recent work by Inga McCaslin Frick, opening September 6, 2025.
Beauty and Hallucination features a body of work that explores the blurry terrain between the physical and virtual worlds we simultaneously inhabit. The interplay of these realms is made palpable as physical material is confused with digital representation and distortion: A wad of fabric melds into a reproduction; a torn page is confused with an image of ripped paper; illusions of three dimensions are intermingled and confused with actual depth. All of this is woven into powerful painterly compositions that can take a long time to absorb. It is work that is both beautiful and gently disturbing.
Frick’s artistic career spans over three decades and includes work in the prestigious Corcoran Biennial of American Painting, a Bunting Fellowship at Harvard University, and solo exhibitions across the country. After a period of private practice devoted to caregiving, she returned to the studio full-time in 2021, producing powerful work that integrates digital and physical processes in a way that resonates with our reality bending contemporary experience.
