About the Event

Join us for the Opening Reception of Estrangement: Challenging the Myth of Mankind’s Separation from Nature, a thought-provoking exhibition by artist Erik Hunter.

Through a striking series of paintings, Hunter places the human body in direct conversation with the natural world, where flesh becomes root, veins become vines, and bone becomes husk. Rather than presenting nature as something separate from us, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the idea that humanity has never truly existed apart from the earth.

At its core, Estrangement challenges the boundaries we have drawn between ourselves and the living world. The works ask visitors to sit with a sense of discomfort and recognition, encouraging a deeper consideration of our relationship with nature, our role as stewards, and the consequences of seeing the environment as something outside of ourselves.

Guests are invited to meet the artist, experience the exhibition, and engage with a body of work that is both visually powerful and deeply reflective.
