Wang Li‑ou

Artist Statement
Liou Wang graduated from the Suzhou Arts and Crafts School in 1982. She specializes in both Chinese calligraphy and seal carving. Her seal engraving is deeply rooted in the Qin and Han dynasties, distinguished by confident knife techniques and a highly individual artistic style, earning widespread recognition within the calligraphy and seal engraving community.

Since 1987, her works have been selected for numerous national and international exhibitions, including the First National Modern Seal Engraving Exhibition in China, where she received an award. During the 1990s, her works were featured in the Chinese Seal Engraving Art Exhibition at Yale University in the United States, as well as the China–Japan Friendship Seal Engraving Exhibition and other international touring exhibitions promoting cultural exchange.

In 2011, she was selected for the First Jiangsu Women’s Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Exhibition. In recent years, her works have been published in professional art journals and featured in numerous juried exhibitions of fine art and calligraphy. In April 2023, she held a solo exhibition of painting, calligraphy, and seal engraving in Suzhou. In March 2026, her work was selected for the Jiangsu Women Seal Engravers Exhibition.

She is currently a member of the Jiangsu Calligraphers Association, the Nanjing Seal Society, the Suzhou Dongwu Seal Society, the American International Association of Engraving Art, and the Chinese Arts Association
