Lions

Professor Guo Ruyu was born in China in December of 1941. He is a member of the Artists Association of China. His position include Director of the Creation and Research Department of the Sichuan Province Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Institute; President of the Chengdu City Fine Brushwork Painting Association; Dean of Chengdu Fine Brushwork Painting Academy; and Dean of Sichuan Province Oriental Painting Art Academy.

The subject of this painting called “Lions” is a group of lions who have just begun to awaken. It expresses the awakening of lions. The lion is the king of all beasts and the symbol of strength. The artist uses the theme of a group of awakened lions that have various expressions – some of the lions roar in anger, some have looks of disdain, and some show great resentment.
