New giving opportunity for non-itemizers
The recently-passed CARES Act permits taxpayers to claim up to $300 in cash contributions to charity as a deduction without itemizing. Married-filing-jointly taxpayers will get an above-the-line deduction of up to $600. Check with your tax professional for more information.
