Twittering Sparrow in Early Spring

     “Twittering Sparrow in Early Spring”

by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

Wielding the brush freely and effortlessly, the artist used only a small number of brush strokes to depict this relaxed and delightful motif. Spring is in the air, the sun shines gently, the breezes are pleasant, and branches are sprouting leaves. A group of sparrows perched on branches are enjoying themselves to their hearts’ content. As a poem states, “On a sunny day with light wind, nobody has any cares. This enrapturing scene of nature is for all to enjoy, yet only birds are having fun playing about.” These birds look calm and at ease as they chirp softly and call out loudly. They seem to be heartily singing a light melody. All of this makes for a lovely and peaceful scene that is full of life, leisurely, highly elegant, and deeply absorbing.

This artwork is in the “Fanpu” style.

“Echoes in Ink: The Fusion of Tradition and Expression in Chinese”
by Jojo Liu

Exhibition:  9/4/2024 – 11/3/2024

Echoes in Ink delves into the fluid and meditative nature of Chinese calligraphy, presenting a journey of experimentation and personal discovery. Rooted in ancient tradition, Chinese calligraphy is more than an art form; it is a visual expression of culture, philosophy, and the artist’s inner world.

In my work with Chinese calligraphy, I explore the balance between precision and spontaneity, merging traditional techniques with modern interpretations. The strokes, flowing yet deliberate, reflect my engagement with the art’s discipline while embracing the freedom of creative exploration. Each piece is an inquiry into the
relationship between movement, form, and meaning, and ultimately reveals a dialogue between past and present, tradition and innovation.

Echoes in Ink: The Fusion of Tradition and Expression in Chinese invites viewers to experience not just the aesthetic beauty of Chinese calligraphy, but also the personal and experimental process behind it. Through this experiment, I hope to bridge the gap between the ancient and the contemporary, drawing attention to the enduring power of this timeless art form.. Click here for more

“The Book of Changes”
by Georgii Uvs

Curated by Ellen Nash

Exhibition : 9/1/2023 – 10/28/2024

The artist Georgii Uvs, both philosopher and painter, endeavors to convey unique psychological and emotional states in his works, which, in his view, encapsulate the human experience. He relies solely on paint as the medium to express his existential insights and quests. Eschewing brushes and other conventional tools, he crafts his paints using ancient recipes and personal techniques. Georgii doesn’t impose his will
but rather submits to the paints, allowing them to reveal their inherent purpose.

The “Book of Changes” series emerged during the tumultuous years of 2020-2022, a
period of unprecedented global transition touching every civilization and nation,
irrespective of race, creed, or political ideology. Through his existential approach to
painting, Georgii captures the profound emotional and spiritual essence of
contemporary humanity. His aim is to depict the psychological landscape that
resonates with us all. Click here for more.
