The International Art Museum of America (IAMA) is holding an International Youth Art Contest and Exhibition to promote and showcase young talents from around the world. The exhibition will take place July 13 – July 21, 2024, with a ceremony to award prizes on July 17, 2024.

This will be an exhibition with contest awards dedicated to young artists aged 7 through 18, providing them with an avenue to exhibit their talents and to gain invaluable experience in meeting and exchanging ideas with young artists from other countries. We welcome all young artists to take part in this fun and exciting activity. Submit your artwork with no registration fee! Selected artworks entering the second round will be invited to participate in a one-week exhibition at the galleries of the International Art Museum of America. All second-round entries will also receive certificates for participation in the exhibition. A presentation ceremony for winning artworks will be held on July 17, 2024.

Artwork Types

All two-dimensional artworks, including paintings in various media, oil, watercolor, sketches, etching, calligraphy, and block printing, are welcome.

Timeline

1. Free Registration: Now through May 31.
2. First-round submission deadline: Deadline for submission of artworks online for first-round jury review is May 31, 2024. Submission to the first round is free.
3. First-round submission: please submit your profile information and artwork in the section at the bottom of this page. Only one piece of artwork needs to be uploaded online.
4. Second-round submission: A minimum of two original physical paintings are required to be submitted in the second-round semi-final competition. Deadline for submissions is July 7, 2024. All original artworks should arrive at IAMA before 3 p.m., July 7, 2024.
5. Exhibition of semi-finalists’ artworks: All second-round entries will be put on display at
   the museum gallery from July 13 to July 21, 2024, for public viewing.
6. Presentation of prizes, awards and certificates will be held July 17, 2024, at 2 p.m.

Awards

1. All entries will be divided by age into three groups: 7-10, 11-14, and 15-18
2. All second-round entries will be awarded with exhibition certificates.
3. First Prize in each age group will receive an award certificate and a cash prize of $500.
4. Second Prize in each age group will receive an award certificate and a cash prize of $300.
5. Third Prize in each age group will receive an award certificate and a cash prize of $200.
6. 10 Honorary Mentions in each age group will receive Young Artist Awards.

Exhibition Fee

1. No registration fee for initial online submission.
2. Candidates entering the second-round, semi-final stage will submit two artworks for a one-week exhibition for public viewing. The fee for exhibition and handling is $200.
3. Candidates are welcome to submit more than two paintings to the contest and exhibition. Fees for each additional artwork advancing to the second round is $100 for handling and exhibition space.

Artwork Specifications and Handling

1. All paintings are to be a maximum of 18” x 24” (60 cm x 45 cm).
2. Artwork in paper format doesn’t need to be framed. IAMA will provide frame rental and installation services. The handling fee is $30 to cover the cost of frame, installation for exhibition, deinstallation, and shipping back to artist services.
3. For submissions with frames already or artwork in non-paper format, which requires services from IAMA for installation and shipment back to the artist, please contact us. We will provide a customized quote for each individual artist.
